Robert Freke Gould, 1836 - 1915, is a famous English mason and masonic historian. He entered the army at eighteen, serving with distinction, but returned to England to study law, and became a barrister in 1868. He is best remembered as an early proponent of the authentic school of masonic research and for his three volume History of Freemasonry. Gould was a founding member and the second Master of Quatuor Coronati No. 2076, London.
