Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick
Duke Ferdinand was born on 12 January 1721, and died on 3 July 1792.
He was initiated 1740 in Lodge Aux trois Globes and raised to MM in 1743 in Breslau. He returned to Freemasonry late in the 1760s and became a member of every System of Higher Degrees. In 1782 he presided over the Convention of Wilhelmsbad which put an end to the Strict Observance, but he became Grand-Master General of the new System of the Knights of Charity. 1783 he also joined the Order of Illuminati and the System of the Asian Brethren.
